Inspiration: This is Marcia. She's the photographer and writer behind the lovely blog, Marcia B. Creative. Marcia and I have been following each others' blogs for over a year. Recently, she commented on a few of my fashion week posts telling me that she had taken almost the exact same photograph that I'd posted. For a while, it was a bit eerie. Marcia was in New York taking the same photos as me? So we were not only in the same town but within feet of each other? Crazy. I couldn't figure it out. How was it that I didn't recognize her? Then . . . a couple months after the close of New York Fashion Week, I found these photos I took of Marcia without realizing I was photographing her. The ways of the world are so wonderfully weird. Now check out Marcia's shoes! Love them.

The Details of Dress, Pt. 2

New York: Lincoln Center

Inspiration: I am a lover coats, jackets and blazers - coats in particular. I have way too many by most people's standards but never too many by my own. This coat took me a little bit by surprise. I am obsessed with its details. This piece is minimalistic and sleek but contains a few unexpected elements, including the deconstructed edges and the built-in scarf. Does any one know the provenance of this wonderful coat? It seems very Helmut Lang, no?

Inspiration: The thing I loved most about the details of her look is that rhinestone necklace. It adds just the right amount of unexpected bling.

Fairy Godmother Chic

Inspiration: This is what I call "Fairy Godmother Chic."  Maybe this brand of eclectic chicness will become a new "fashion" trend. If it does, just remember that you saw it here first.

Turn On The Lights

New York: Gramercy Park

Inspiration: My guy and I were heading to dinner at the Gramercy Hotel last night when we noticed that the trees in the park were awash with beautiful colored lights coming from the building. As we closed in on the hotel, we could see the set up for the filming of a movie. The only camera on me was the one on my i-phone, so I snapped this quickly before we darted in to try to snag bar seats (regular tables are impossible to get on short notice). The flash went off, which surprised me. I didn't realize I had flash on my i-phone.  In any event, when I looked at the photo today, I noticed it was unfocused but filled with an array of unusual colors - an amalgam of the yellowing leaves on the trees, the colored lights, the flash and the street light nearby. I played around with the white balance in Lightroom and this is the result. Not really my photographic style but I like it.

Inspiration: Sometimes, when you love a color, one item in that shade is not enough. You have to go all out and take it to the next level.
