New York: Park Avenue and 16th Street
Inspiration: Someone created this. He or she likely spent weeks crocheting this "coat of many colors" for a trashed half-bike. I wonder what happened to cause the creator to toss out his or her art with the ordinary garbage? Maybe it was a new roommate or husband or wife who said "It's me or that thing." In any event, there was something ugly-beautiful about this brilliantly -colored, blanketed half-bike, especially as it lay against the dull gray of the trash bags.
Treasure! Love the bright colors!

that somebody had a lot of time on their hands!!! why indeed do this and toss it away? (not my cup of tea)

I have to admit I wouldn't bring it home either. But it was lovely to photograph . . .

Absolute treasure! I'd hang that on my kitchen wall in a heartbeat.

I see you have started to share my interest in garbage!
This bike is very intriguing. I am not sure what to think about it! Was it something done for a fashion shop window or something similar (PR, advertising...)?
I would probably hang it on my front door, like a shop sign, under an umbrella (or the crochet woudl get dirty dirty).

gorgeous colours on that bike, i do believe it is the work of a graffiti artist http://deputy-dog.com/2008/11/urban-knitting-worlds-most-inoffensive.html though it might be a different artist or just like you mentioned trashed :)

that thing is hideous. an eyesore.
but having said that, you gotta appreciate and respect the dedication and amout of hours it took whoever did it and then eventually toss it.
but there's a beauty in all this, i don't know: hideous beauty?

@Summer, I think you might be right.
@David, I know. I totally agree.

Treasure. I've been to an art fair this Saturday and they had crocheted covers for a hole bedroom, including the bed, mirror and desk. But it hadn't those nice colors as this bike has.
