New York: In front of Bergdorf Goodman on 58th Street and 5th Avenue
Inspiration: A couple of hours ago, as the sun was setting and the light was fading in the city (thank goodness for my camera's awesome ISO), I saw the most jaunty looking chap walking past BG's with his friend, whom he introduced as his designer (she designed his headpiece). I did a double take as I walked in the other direction and he saw me do it too! But that double take resulted in a little chat, and shortly after that, this photograph. This city is a veritable treasure trove of fascinating and intriguing people. I cannot get enough of this place.
great shot! the connection is very strong. I am surprised that you say light wasn't good because I thought the light in this image is so rich. What ISO were you on? And do you take single or continuous shots when it gets darker?

Jules: I was using ISO 2500 . . . so pretty high for me. So there's some graininess in the photograph. You can see it in the jacket. But thanks for the encouraging comment. Took single shots . . .

I didn't notice the graininess actually. 2500 ISO, that is amazing!! I am on a different (starter) dSLR but I notice grains in my photos even at 1600. And of course I don't forget that the photographer is more important than the camera ;)
One of the challenges I can't seem to work out is low light photos- turn ISO up, aperture open full, but when it's not enough...? don't take the photo?

I love that little hat and I love even more that there is a man who is man enough to wear it!

great colors and style (2500 ISO... very tempting for me to upgrade to full frame)

This is amazing at 2500. Holding the grain al least on screen nicely. I love this and the story behind it. He is a wonderful character. Xxxx
