Inspiration: I was once told that red and fuchsia were two colors that needed to be kept apart -- like black and navy (yet, I wear black and navy together all the time). But rules like that (along with no white after Labor Day and matching accessories) serve only to hamper creativity. If a color combination pleases your eye or serves to express your own personal style as envisioned by you, then it works.
oh come on, people used to tell that in the 50s! have they heard of Christian Lacroix??? and haha matching accessories are SO boring! and yeah navy and black rock together!

Carole: Well, my grandaunt was young in the 50s . . . and she's the one who gave me these precious gems.

this colour combination issue seems to be popping up a lot lately. i've been wearing a lot of navy and black mixed together lately... the other day i had it on with brown boots and grey snood. i wondered if i was breaking all the rules... love that she has paired the red/pink together. definitely not a choice i would have gone for, but if you wear it with confidence and it is bold it totally works and gives a little insight into the sort of person she might be... vivacious and strong willed, i'd guess. haha. psychic reading through colours... new career path, perhaps? xx
