Inspiration: I've photographed him before. But today, at Bryant Park, I learned that his name is Wendell. He makes all of his patchwork gowns, jackets and headdresses by hand. Interestingly, Wendell is aware of the trends, including the renewed interest in cut-outs. He created a detachable piece on the back of his jacket to give him a more "conservative" look and an "exposed" look. Sometimes he wears his jacket facing forward in a typical fashion. At other times, he dons the jacket backwards, to "add a twist". It doesn't take much to see that Wendell loves fashion and the camera. He strode along an imaginary catwalk, stopped, posed and then ran over to check the photos.
I know that you probably will not see this, but thanks for a great photo shoot, Wendell. I cannot wait to see your next creation.
