New York: 59th Street Bridge
Inspiration: In case you were wondering what the underside of the 59th street bridge looks like . . . here you go. Oh don't lie. . . I know you really wanted to know. Well, regardless of whether the belly of the bridge was on your top ten things to think about today, you have to admit that it's pretty cool, no? So intricate and detailed. I can almost see a cool print being made out of this pattern.
New York: West Side of Manhattan (first photo); East Side of Manhattan (second photo)
Inspiration: It's a bit odd that on an island as small as Manhattan, a number of Manhattanites pick a side and stick with it. While we may venture all over the city for various reasons, many of us identify with a side. Many of my friends have never lived on the East and are loathe to head East . . . always suggesting restaurants and activities on the West. Me -- I am an eastsider. For eleven years, I've lived, worked and stomped on the East Side. Quite frankly, I'm more likely to move to Brooklyn than the West Side . . . but from above, with my eyes squinted a bit, East and West are virtually indistinguishable.

Inspiration: In addition to being drawn to photographing lone figures - especially against the background of the city - I simply love the light in this late afternoon shot. On a totally unrelated note, this is my 1000th post! Love that number!
New York: Washington Square Park
Inspiration: Spring arrived early! And I could not be happier. Well, I could be happier if I was on vacation and spending every moment outside!

Inspiration: The skaters and rollerbladers in the park are sooo much fun to watch! The music is rocking, the skaters are kicking it. And I am on the sidelines clicking away with my camera.
New York: From the Empire State Building
Inspiration: I have to admit that I love this one. Where the Empire State Building casts its formidable shadow on the rest of the skyline.
New York: Central Park
Inspiration: It's a bit cold now, but this past Sunday, it was warm enough for people to sit out in the park as if a Summer's day. The coolest part about this photo for me were the swirls that the shadows of the still leafless trees made on the ground.
New York: Looking South From the Empire State Building
Inspiration: This is my favorite view from the Empire State Building -- the one looking south to the original New York. After what seems like ages, the new Liberty Tower is finally towering above the rest of the skyline.

Inspiration: How I love a mirror image! I finally marched myself back to Central Park the other day. It's been ages since I've been there. I've been consumed by other things, so I haven't been as diligent with my photography walks. I forgot what wonderful photo opportunities I get when I am in the park!
New York: From the Empire State Building
Inspiration: Today I went to the Empire State Building for the second time in my life. Probably twice more than most New Yorkers. For some reason, I needed to see nothing but real estate today. Pure architecture. I needed to get back into my New York State of Mind . . . from a photographic point of view anyway. More Empire State photos to follow.
