Inspiration: I spent the better part of the afternoon roaming around Lincoln Center, the site of New York Fashion Week. After taking multiple posed shots over several hours, I wanted to find something different. Something natural. Since NYFW is a place to be seen and photographed, most people are aware of cameras. So catching candid moments is not easy. Then I saw this girl engrossed in putting on her makeup. She was shielded from the main area by the upwardly rising tide of water pouring out of the fountain, which created the kind of pure white background that I love. Publicly private moments - those instances where people do personal things in a public arena - intrigue me.
Then maybe 20 minutes later, I saw her again. All done up, totally lovely, and ready to be seen and photographed.
wow.. I like these shoots a lot. especially the third one. :)

Oh I've missed so many wonderful posts, PD. I love how you're capturing these aspects of NY fashion week. Private moments in public: exactly. And I love the serendipity - the 'accident' - of seeing her 20 minutes later.
Visiting your blog is always such a luxurious treat: like finding the most amazing chocolatier. I love how I can experience NY fashion week thru your eyes: without jet lag. Thank you.
