Thank you Gigi! Am following your blog too.

It sure is picturesque allright. The effect of the waterdrops are pretty.

Very picturesque indeed.
In the second picture, she looks as if she's had enough from her facial expression.

the first photo is breathtaking!

I love following your blog it helps me think of new and different ways to look through my lens.
When you are shooting b&w do you actually shoot in b&w or do you shoot in color with the intention of turning them b&w? I'm taking a workshop and we are starting to shoot in b&w so I thought I would ask if you had any tips to share.
Thanks!
Carla

Carla: Thanks! When shooting digital, I almost always shoot in color with the intention of turning something into B&W. I think you get a better result when you can control the process as opposed to letting the camera control that process for you. So I am aware of shots with more contrasts in them, which work for well in black and white. I play with over- and under-exposure a lot. These photos were underexposed, which, combined with a very dark background created by leafy trees, created the heavy contrasts.

When the page loaded and I could only see the top half of the photo, I thought I was looking at stars in the night sky (when it truly was droplets of water).

Very beautiful! I adore this!

You are extremely talented.

WOW !

I love the lyrical side of these photos, especially on the first.
Wonderful details too !

It's simply beautiful ...

Thanks for the technical info that helps alot!
I've only used the b&w feature on my rebel once at a very poorly lit music venue my husband's band played. Not exactly my best stuff but it was the only way I could get anything to work. He loved them but I wasn't as impressed. I'll try some of your tips before our fieldtrip this weekend.

I am really in love with the woman and baby in the background of the top photo! So candid and special.... :)

hi hi, dear - i just read your reply to cala - that was really insightful. I've always had this notion that analogue b/w somehow always possess better dynamic than digitally turned b/w - but, i never questioned about your b/w - i mean i never thought there were later-turned b/w. now, you give me a real good references to study - and work on my digital b/w version!!!

btw: how are you? enjoy summer so far??

xx

beautiful photos!

I love the mom&babe in the background like Ken. I hope this girl never loses her "who cares what I look like" appearance in attitude. It is so key to becoming authentic :)
Great shots!

I love these photos! We visited the park whilst on holiday from Australia and loved Washington Square - we lost track of time watching some very entertaining street performers and the kids playing in the fountains. I love seeing someone else's perspective of the same place now that I've been there. I feel like I discover even more through each photo. Looking forward to browsing around your blog now!

Stunning water drops^^
