The first photo...breathtaking, and the juxtaposition with the cityscape! Ah also the reflection of the tree in the water almost looks pixellated or some style of mosaic... I dunno how, but I can taste colour in your BW shots.

i really love that first photo. hopping over to your color site to see a color version (i hope!)

Just wow. Both photos. Wow.

I love how both landscapes evoke different emotions.

Both places are high on my list of places to visit.

the first photo is incredible. just art. breathtaking.

Thanks everyone.

both photos are beautiful... both very different

Simply beautiful !

I love these two point of view,
the energy of the city and
the grace of this magnificent garden .

But I love the big citys, so I prefer
the view of the second photo :)

"Oh my god!It's incredible."
This is what I was thinking when I saw the garden.

I wouldn't mind waking up and seeing the top view every morning. I love that you captured the reflection of the tree on the water. So beautiful! The city, sounds better sometimes than it looks. And home, always looks good!

The contrast between the two is wonderful. That tree! The reflection in the water. Gorgeously captured. Go girl!

Wow, like others have said, that top photo, your view from your hotel, is just so beautiful. I could look at it for hours.

I love the contrast with your view from home in NY. But also what I can't get over is.. I don't know whether it's intentional, but then again, how could it be? Both shots have almost the identical composition. I mean, PD, I know you're good, but unless you've got some kind of magic powers.. how can you control objects outside your window?

But surely.. were you aware of it? The way your eye zig zags in each shot, how both rectangles are divided up in the same way? No, don't tell me. Like your name and your appearance, I'd rather be mystified. ; )

Glad you're safely back. Before the volcano erupted, I assume! xo

Spectacular 1st.

Lovely first shot. Tot it was IR at first :)

Wow, something else. Japan is on a different planet.

I like both views! To be honest, I really envy you for your apartment view as I'd love to live in NY! :-)

I cannot wait to go to japan

I've just caught up with you blog. What phenomenal insights into modern Japanese culture! Thank you so much for sharing your exquisite photographs! :)

beautiful pictures! love the first one!

I like "only" the first one. But that's due to my favouring nature massively at the moment. Nothing like spring.

Could you post the first pic in color too? Pretty please.

Great pictures - they work extremely well as a diptych too. It reads like two different sides of the same city (it's only in a city's gardens one is actually likely to find the tree & water of the first picture: these seldom happen in nature, IMVHO).
