I am a diarist of ordinary moments that move me. I gravitate towards black and white photography but still celebrate color. I love the candid capture but respect the power of the choreographed moment. I study the rules of phos+graphis but am compelled periodically to ignore them.
Inspiration: Three weeks after my trip to Vienna and I am still inspired by the gorgeous winter light I encountered there. This sunny woods was right in the middle of the city, which is why I refer to this as an urban oasis, albeit a wintry one.
Inspiration: During this entire trip to Vienna, I was pretty amazed by the light. It was gorgeous at all hours of the day. I only have a few more Vienna photos to share and then I guess I ought to get back into photographing the ordinary little things happening in my own town . . .
Vienna, Austria: Universitat Wien (Vienna University)
Inspiration: The architecture in Vienna is imposing and powerful. If we were talking about only a few buildings in this vein, then maybe this one would seem merely gorgeous. But when almost every building in the immediate vicinity possesses this imperial quality, then you see why Vienna conveys such a regal and somewhat haughty air.
Inspiration: I was walking through the Gramercy area of Manhattan on a night when a movie was being filmed around the park. As part of the set, the trees around the park were lit up with ground based lights. I couldn't resist whipping out my i-phone! This photo reminds me of another one I posted recently.
Inspiration: I love symmetry. Maybe it's because my life is so frequently topsy turvy, helter skelter and willy nilly. As a result, I can often be found hanging out straight down the middle, searching for balance.
Inspiration: Even in the middle of winter, the gardens surrounding Schonbrunn Palace were stunning. They must be ridiculously stunning in the summertime! After all, this Palace was the summer home of the Hapsburg dynasty. In any event, what captured my attention the most on this day was the gorgeous afternoon light.
Inspiration: The winter residence of one of the most poweful families in European history: The Hapsburg dynasty. I think I need a castle or a palace with hundreds of rooms for my winter residence. Alas, my five room apartment will have to do.
