Inspiration: I work in an industry where what one wears is a uniform at best and a freaking mess at worst. I am either looking at boring blue, gray and black suits paired up with blue, gray or black pumps (when everyone is looking good) or hems dragging on the ground, crumpled linen trousers in winter, ill-fitting jackets and skirts and even moth-eaten sweaters (when no one cares what the hell they look like). Since I put a bit of effort into my general appearance, wear things that work for the season and fit my body, and almost always wear high heels and a bit of leopard print somewhere, people at work think I am avant garde and always pushing the envelope. Seriously. The funny thing is, I must have started drinking the coolaid because I was kind of believing it for a minute! Until I got to Paris. Hellooo. Specifically the Ann Demeulemeester show. That's when I was reminded that if I worked in the fashion industry, my wardrobe could be considered quite conservative. In any event, on a related note, I like the way she manages to look simple, cool and edgy without looking desperate about it. Wish I could see this kind of look at work . . .

Don't let them convince you to give up your cool style. I've so been there, and in general tone down my true colors most of the time for simplicity's sake. Love this photo!

Such a funny story. I guess its all about context. But dragging hems don't belong anywhere as far as I am concerned!! these are beautiful photos by the way. I love her attitude in the first photo.

The balance between the shirt and the shoes (the cleanness and smoothness) is great, especially when you contrast that with he deconstructed denim and the ruffled hair.
