New York: Mott Street, Chinatown
Inspiration: New York is the kind of place where one can be transported into another culture and country simply by turning a corner into a another neighborhood. A few minutes from this spot is Little Italy (which is getting littler and littler every year). There are areas of the Lower East Side where you can walk for blocks and blocks and only hear Spanish and parts of East Village lined with tiny Indian restaurants filled with colorful decorations year round. Similarly, areas of Brooklyn are home to a myriad of Jamaican patty shops and the sounds of Jamaican patois. I can go on and on describing different neighborhoods and cultures in this town. For me, this is the absolute best part of living in New York. Diversity like this is priceless.

LOVED your city! Yes, we covered just about every neighborhood including Chinatown. I thought living on Toronto and it's Chinatown was impressive...NY has it beat with this area. We went to Si Se at Le Poisson Rouge and I couldn't believe the tapas bars in the area. Fantastic. Need to go again soon. It's only a 6 hour drive, so no excuses :)

I could not agree with you more about the awesomeness of living in diverse city like New York. London is probably the only other big international city that I've been to that is as diverse as New York. Fabulous photo.

Nadine: Am so glad you loved it here! I think Toronto is pretty fabulous too, actually!
Alain: Right? NYC is so awesome in its diversity.
Ashley: I am a New Yorker too . . . at least for the last 10 years.

My feelings exactly. Only in New York and London can you find such.
This picture could have been taken in London's Chinatown and it would still drive the same point home - diversity is the city's heartbeat.
Great topic today and a great picture to accompany it.

NYC is diversified, but I would say Vancouver is the same as well. It may be more than you think too. I think it is a simultaneous pattern that each big city has nowadays.
