New York: 5th Avenue and 58th Street
Inspiration: After devoting a multitude of posts to documenting its windows, need I say that I am a fan of this store? So, I had an appointment on the Upper East Side today. By the time I left, it was late afternoon, which is a great time to photograph Bergdorf Goodman's windows. During that point in the day, the shadows of the city linger on the glass in a way that I love. Also, the combination of the store's bright lights and the evening light outside allows me to underexpose the photographs to obtain black or near-black backgrounds, which I find so dramatic. The other good thing was that my camera was equipped with my 35mm lens (a rare thing since I am crazy about my 70-200mm these days). Because of wide angle of the 35mm, I can stand really close to to the glass, avoid people traffic criss-crossing in front of me, and get the shots I want. Warning: lots of photographs follow.

I adore your windows! Love photographing windows too and love the results with the shadows, reflections and outside elements! I thought they were probably too busy, but now am really satisfied and will continue. Thanks for your advice for shooting windows too!

I love these images - especially that last one with the chameleon (?). Nature triumphing over civilization? It has a wonderfully sinister quality. Beautiful light.

i found your window shots so enticing - especially how you capture the glares ... something so hard to compose when shoot through window - can't wait for your holiday window marathon ;-)
enjoy our unbelievably beautiful sunday ...

Great photo of the gal with the BG bag. I can totally see this photo used in a print advertisement or on BG website. Great capture!

I really enjoy your BG posts. This one is particularly cool because of the lead in photograph. It looks like an advertisement in one of BG's magazines. The other thing I want to tell you is that I love the variety of things you post on your blog. A bit of grit, a bit of fashion, a bit of architecture and a bit of the real people of New York. But always great photography. Great work all around.

Fabulous pics as always. My favourite is the last one, because of its simplicity.
Have a great new week.

Love that last one with the deep background, although actually my favourites are the ones which show the reflection of the street behind-an interesting juxtaposition.
