New York: Bethesda Terrace, Central Park
Inspiration: Apparently the erhu is more popular than I thought. The day after I photographed this, but in a different part of Central Park, another gentleman was playing the delicate string instrument. The sound was especially incredible inside the terrace.

It's so beautiful, everything in shadows and light, like chinese shades.
A touch of grace in a dark place.

I am not sure where this instrument comes from but I know that when there were troubles in Yugoslavia (well, wars really), the Parisian underground was full of Yugoslav musicians. Same after the war in Lebanon etc. There is often more behind a picture than we think there is!
