Inspiration: During fashion week, I used my only zoom lens -- a 70-200mm f2.8 -- the whole time. It's the biggest lens I own and requires that I work out my arms in order to carry it around for more than 4 hours at a time. While standing around in the bright sun on one of those afternoons, looking for the next fashionista to photograph, I saw my shadow on the ground and it made me laugh out loud. So I took a picture of it with my i-phone and overdosed on the contrast. Funny, no? A cartoon camera-slinger.

Oh my god you work with THAT?
So, we finally have a portrait of you! happy us!

greaaaat!
I loove when something real become something quite "unreal", in that case a pic becomes almost a drqwing.

@Ceci: It looks way bigger in the picture (because my shadow was kind of deformed) than it really is -- even though it is a large lens.
@Merilin: Glad you see the humor in it!
@NyanziReport: I wish!!
@sofiasophie: Glad to hear from you again! I like that too . . . it's unexpected.

Fabulous! Methinks you should make this your avatar. But why am I reminded of Charlie's Angels?
Posted by: Bianca | September 30, 2010 at 01:32 PM
@Bianca: I kinda see Charlies Angels in this too. They used that sihouette with all three women holding weapons, right?

That's great you look like a female rambo but in a good way! ^^

WHOA. As Christi would say (where is Christ btw? Haven't heard from her in a coon's age) that's SO rad.
That explains why you can shoot manual: you really can focus. It's so frustrating for me because I can shoot really precisely, manually, with my dad's old (film) Pentax - I love love love shooting manually. As Shini and Kit keep telling me - with my little Canon, and the lens I use, it's not worth it to try to focus manually: I'll never get it precise. I do play around with setting.. which explains why you asked if I'd gone manual. I've shortened my depth of field. But I must admit: my focus is mostly automatic, esp. in catwalk shows.
I'm loving all your shots - oh I see you shot my friend Natalie Hughes (Canned Fashion). so she actually knows you as a human being!
We must meet someday. xo

Very funny this shadow: very original shot!
Posted by: Jennifer - Stylish Clin d'Oeil | October 2, 2010 at 06:09 AM
@Jaicroise: Unfortunately, I would need at least a 400mm lens for that. The kind that you need to use with a tripod. But my lens is a beast for sure.

Love it! Looks like it should be the cover of a comic about a crime-fighting fashion photographer :)
