New York: Washington Square Park
Inspiration: On any given day during the year, provided the weather isn't too inclement, one can find Joe Mangrum at a city park entertaining crowds with his art. He creates incredible murals on the ground with sand. Whenever I photograph him, I tend to focus on the man and not as much on his creation. To see better examples of his work, stop by his website.

It is so much fun to see the artist at work, their expressions, how they move. What an amazing place to live!

Haha, when I first read the post title I immediately thought of the the Sandman, a german tv character which brings children a last bedtime story and sends them to sleep with his dreamsand. Childhood memories!
Joe has to be a really special person. I'd never have the necessary patience for this. Nice picture, especially with the blurry crowd in the background.

San: He is pretty special. He spends up to 8 hours creating these murals and attracts crowds where ever he goes.
Cristi: Thank you!!!

This is what I meant, its all relevant to were the artiest exhibits his work. He will always be called a street artiest, as if he were a second rate artist. begging for people to tip him.

I think it takes some special kind of courage and confidence to spend up to 8 hours creating art that will soon be swept or washed away by weather. Love his hat - great capture!
