I absolutely love that first shot!

That first shot is absolutely beautiful.

Gorgeous shots - I love the opposite dominance of white and black in each photo, it really makes them work together when placed side by side. Excellent use of negative space! Ah, Ican't say enough in favor of these. Love love love.

I agree with brigadeiro and Nicholas. The first one is excellent. And yes simplicity is the hardest to achieve.
Have a good start in the new week.

it seems it may have been hard for you to do those pics, but you succeed it.

...and again...simply breathtaking... I've only known [of] you a few weeks but I see how you just get better and better everyday.
The first one is briliant, beautiful, I love it, another one I would buy but the symbology of the 2nd is awesome...

The 1st picture is perfect!
Yes, I used a 100mm macro lens to do the last pic in my blog. :)

Light is perfect!!!

Wonderful composition in the first shot. Love it.

The first shot is really nice and arresting but I would not call it minimalist: with all the lines of the stairs, there is actually a lot going on!
C'est amusant, cette idée de mettre en relation de la mode contemporaine et des peintres un peu oubliés. Bravo ! (par contre avec les lunettes si basses, tu dois te faire mal aux yeux en lisant, non ?)

ah i so much love this spot and the statue. i have to refrain to take too many pictures of it. true, your 1st shot is a complete success.
Posted by: Carole | March 29, 2010 at 08:28 AM
Thanks everyone. I guess the first shot is the clear "winner". I do love it but I like the second too. It was so quiet and bare when I was about to snap the shot . . . and then the bird flew away.
Davidikus - I guess it's all a matter of interpretation . . . BTW, is your last paragraph meant for me?

I love the composition of these two photos,
very minimalist, very beautfiful...
You are very talented .

These are SO incredible PD! For me, the first one immediately conjured up feelings of Istanbul (I am not sure why- the arches and light perhaps?) Um, and of course, ALL your photos make me yearn for the States....
p.s. THANK YOU so much for your lovely little piece on me- I just read it. I didn't read the comments though because I was too scared everyone would hate my work! (yep, I am like an ostrich- my head is firmly buried in the sand most of the time :)) Thank you PD.

You knocked it out the pack with the first one.
Home run.
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw it was 'stairway to Heaven.'

Love them both. And I love the juxtaposition of the two shots. But since the majority are gushing over the first..
I love the SECOND more! Actually, I do: catching that last bird flying off, his little wings flapping.. that's magic.
What piece on Vanessa? I've been missing so much.

that first photo is poetic! really beautiful!! love it.
Posted by: michelle | March 29, 2010 at 04:48 PM
Both fantastic. Antithetical in many ways. I actually prefer the 2nd- there is something so undeniably and adamantly minimalist about white- and I have always been a fan of liberal touch on contrast.

Your blog is one of my daily destinations. Thank you for the images.

I like the second picture better too!
Yes, the second paragraph was meant for someone else... Not sure how it all ended up here. It's not the first time typepad gets mixed up, though.

Nice shot. It is important to do experiments with camera and objects and I see, you are not afraid to do it. Both of the pictures are very expressive through their composition and dramatic, sad mood. I like your play with the opposite dominance of white and black in each photo, it really makes them work together. I appreciate excellent usage of negative space in your minimalist photos. Good luck in your next work.
Best regards,
Jay
