Inspiration: While I was wondering around Central Park today, it started to drizzle. Then rain. Shortly after raindrops began to fall, gusty winds followed. When I left my apartment in the early afternoon, I knew it would be a cold and gray day, but I didn't think I'd need my monster umbrella. So now, in the middle of the park on a wet day, my only protection was a puny, weakling of a black drug-store umbrella that I scrounged up from the bottom of my bag where it has lived for ages. Just when the wimpy thing had flipped inside out for the fifth time, I sought cover inside one of the tunnels in the park. As I ran in, I heard the glorious wail and moan of a sax. Beautiful! One of the regular Central Park musicians had also found refuge from the rain in the tunnel and he had made it such a melodious one at that.

The accoustics would have been amazing! Love the sound of a sax...

B - they were. It was awesome to be temporarily stuck in the tunnel!

What a great moment! The light in these photos is just gorgeous— especially the second one. I love how you even captured the park outside the tunnel.

A very poetic moment, the sax and the rain...
I imagine that the melodies of the sax calmed
the weather ;)
I love the shadows and light on the second,
Great photos !

i love the sound of the saxophone. it was for sure interesting experience listen to the rain & sax. btw, it's probably weird but tunnels always scare me. i would be more scared discovering someone unknown there with me. i know i'm a chicken ;) but be safe.

Photodiarist- I saw and photographed the same musician two weekends ago! These shots have very different character, melancholic- whereas my shots were taken on the sunniest, warmest weekend this season.

The way you use negative space and natural light is a delight to behold.

I love these photos and oh the ones of Central Park. I'll be in N.Y. for my first time in June and can't wait to go there. I especially love the last couple of the sax guy. Those archways seem so emblematic of Central Park...how many are there?
