New York: Coney Island, Brooklyn
Inspiration: Even though we've both lived in New York for a while (he grew up here), neither of us had been to Coney Island before yesterday. Neither of us had seen the beach just off that part of Brooklyn. Neither of us had walked on the famous boardwalk or visited the aquarium just off the boardwalk. On Sunday afternoon, instead of hanging out in Manhattan, we jumped in his car and found our way out to Coney (with the help of GPS). I took more than a few photos. And he took some as well. This is one of mine. Just so you know, it was maybe 28 degrees yesterday (possibly lower). Not the coldest weather ever but it wasn't remotely warm. In fact, there were times when my hands felt like stumps - they were so cold. So, I was amused by this guy, who was intent on getting some sun, regardless of the cold air. At least his dog is covered up. By the way, the umbrella in the background is part of a painted wall. I had to find the perfect spot to get it to "cover" his head.

love this - I remember the first time I went to Coney Island was a couple years ago in Decemeber. It was frigid. You must go again in the summer there is so much more to see then and they also have the Mermaid Festival every year that is a so colorful with people to photograph!
